About Us

Purbeck Pottery was founded in 1966 to manufacture stoneware tableware using Dorset ball clay mined in the Purbeck Hills near Wareham; this process still takes place today.

Philip Barnes, son of Peter Barnes one of the original founders proudly continues to produce pottery today although on a smaller scale and much slower pace.

Due to changing times Philip and his wife Sheena sourced goods far and wide in the hope that they would create a very interesting shop for visitors to the quay.

The on line shop is a continuation of our showroom which is forever changing
